Another week has come and gone so quickly. Here we are already in February of 2020. The warmer weather has been a great treat. A lot of the ice and snow disappeared. Very thankful all the volunteers who have cooked on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been a great money maker for the Center. Our cook ended up sick for a few days. So, I cooked a couple days. Well this month has flown by just like last year. Rose Noel is once again going to be making soup on Saturday’s. The soup will be served from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. If anyone else would like to have a turn Rose say’s she wouldn’t mind. With all the ice on the street you can come and walk in the halls to get some exercise! 14 times around is a mile. The weather this winter has been just screwy, not much in the snow department and warmer weather than I can ever remember for winter. The Harlem Senior Center board members are Dale Klungland, President; Sally O’Leary, Vice President; Kay Schmitt, Secretary; and members Linda Murch and Rose Noel as the other directors. Hansen’s funeral in Harlem on Friday, and visited with Betty Zellmer afterwards. Later that day, Loretta attended the basketball games in Turner. The Tornadoes travel to Dodson on Friday, Jan. 31 with games at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, games are in Turner at 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. against the Box Elder Bears. There will be a community meal, coronation, and float presentation at a public Pep Rally coming this Wednesday at the Turner School at 6:00 p.m. Come enjoy good food, watch the little ones pull floats that have been made by the Junior and Senior High School kids, see the Homecoming candidates and the coronation, and get them revved up at a Pep Rally. Third hat I wear is the Director for the Harlem Area Senior Citizen’s Center. I was hired by the board of the Senior Center. The Senior Center rents from Northern Montana Hospital the dining room area of the building. The dining room is where the Congregate Meals are held. The Dining room has been and can be rented out for a small fee. The use of the entire dining room and kitchen area rents out for $75.00. Use of the dining room or activity room is $10.00. Robert Kelley of Chinook has learned he has a Brain Tumor that needs to be removed. In order to do so he will have to travel to Seattle for surgery. The recovery process will take at least two months and in turn will not allow him the opportunity to work. Rob currently works three jobs and is the sole income provider for his family. There are 16 apartments, the Sweet Medical Center, the Harlem Senior Center as well as the Congregate and Home Delivered meals. There are 10 (1) bedrooms and 6 (2) bedroom apartments. The Local Geography Bee will be held this coming Wednesday, January 7th beginning at 10:11, third period of school, in the 5th and 6th grade classroom.
