Louise Doney of Harlem, Montana, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Doney was initiated at University of Montana. Doney is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. The final results are in from the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Havre check station for the 2021 hunting season. The check station was open for eight weekends from Oct. 9 (the open of general antelope) through Nov. 28 (the end of the deer/elk general season). Overall, hunter numbers and mule deer harvest were well above average. Biologists gather a lot of valuable information and biological data on game animals brought through check stations. The Blaine County Health Department recently announced the winner of the Poster contest that was held earlier this fall. The winner from Turner School was 5th grader Savannah Heilig. On December 13 and 14 at 7:00 p.m., the Montana Actors’ Theater (MAT) organization will be holding auditions for The Harvest. With roles for men and women in their mid-20s-60s, this show offers a range of creative opportunity as well as a theme relevant to North Central Montana. This year the Chinook Community Thanksgiving dinner returned to a bit more normal setting. A year ago organizers were forced to move to the Blaine County Fairgrounds Commercial Building and serve just take out or delivery meals due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the associated restrictions. On Thursday, November 18, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received a shipment of food from Latter-Day Saint Charities delivered by Deseret Transportation. The Turner School held a Veteran's Day celebration on the playground at their school on Veterans Day 2021. Many local Veterans came for the program and were socially distanced in their cars on the edge of the playground. The faith based non-denominational youth group, JUMP is beginning their Annual Holiday Pie sales.
