The Blaine County Community Foundation Fund was established at the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) by Warren Ross in 1997. The intent of the fund is to benefit charitable purposes in Blaine County. Financial support for this grant program also comes from the Ross 87 Ranch Fund, also established by Warren Ross. Wanda Bushman of Malta, formerly of Harlem, has begun a battle with stage 1 lobular carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. Wanda worked at the Harlem Elementary School for many years and is the office manager of the Phillips County news in Malta. She is mother of six adults, and grandmother of six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Thirteen members of the Chinook Chapter of the FFA attended Fall Districts in Lewistown on October 3 when eighteen teams from across Montana competed in Livestock Judging and Horse Evaluation. The Chinook volunteer fire department started in 1904 and is still going strong! They cover roughly 2,056 areas from the Canadian border, to Zurich, the Hill County line, and all the way to the Missouri river. Virginia Olson was back in Chinook from Great Falls after attending the annual Montana Governor's Conference on Aging. The event brings health care providers and caregivers together from across the state to discuss issues facing aging populations especially in a sparsely populated state like Montana.
