Four members from Turner, Montana's American Legion Post 109 conducted a Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags on September 29 at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon. The Chinook Rod & Gun Club held its Annual Gun and Antique show September 30th and October 1-2 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds Commercial Building. Members representing FFA Chapters from Chinook, Harlem, and Big Flat (Turner) traveled to Malta for Career Development Events (CDE) in the Judith Basin District FFA Competition held on October 4. The 2022 Sugarbeet Festival was a huge success with something going on all day long. Vendors lined main street in downtown Chinook throughout day and they had plenty to offer. The Airmen Memorial Committee continues to move forward with their plans of a Commemoration honoring the 13 Airmen who lost their lives tragically on November 30, 1992. Two C-141B Starlifter Cargo Planes collided just 9 miles north of Harlem. The airmen were stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Washington and were on a low-level refueling exercise. The Chinook Community Red Cross blood drive was held on Tuesday September 20th at the Chinook Community Commercial building down at the fairgrounds and was a great success. We had 66 presenting donors and 63 units collected on a goal of 46. The Newah's Garden located in the middle of the Hays Community Garden took another step in meeting its caretaker's long term goal.
