MNIN seeking gently used household furnishings during holidays

With the holiday decorating season beginning in earnest, some readers will likely be getting a new piece of furniture or household accessory for their living space. Consider helping a neighbor in need who may be able to use items you plan to discard or trade in. Chinook My Neighbor in Need can often find new homes for gently used furniture and other household items, even bicycles and baby equipment that meets standard safety guidelines

My Neighbor hosts a website where a request for household items, or other needs, can be anonymously posted. After the needs are verified by local volunteers, the request is posted and good neighbors can fulfill the need, also anonymously. Furniture, especially beds, frames and mattresses, have been the most requested items to date.

Valley Furniture, in Havre, has agreed to donate trade-in furniture that it takes when delivering a new piece to the Chinook or Harlem area. My Neighbor in Need has some storage capability in both towns. Used furniture, in good condition, can often be used to fill a need received by the organization.

You can post a need or look for a need to fulfill by going to My Neighbor in Need's website at http://www.myneighborinneed.org. To talk to a local volunteer about ways to request a need or to donate used items, please call 357-8080. If no one answers, a volunteer will get back with you.
