Snipping locks for a good cause

Cancer Awareness has recently been shown at the Turner Public School when one of their teachers was diagnosed with cancer. The business teacher, Mr. James Bowers, decided he'd take it upon himself and fellow friends and neighbors to help his co-worker out. He offered a chance to snip his hair for a dollar and/or a prayer. He told people even if they didn't drop a buck into the bag, to please offer a prayer for his fellow teacher. He sat in the hallway at the last home game and allowed people coming to the games the opportunity to snip his hair and drop a donation in the bag.

When he counted the donations, he was nearing the $300 mark. Then he made the statement that if he could surpass the three hundred dollar mark, he'd allow the kids and our local beautician to shave his head. Well, the tally was counted Thursday morning and he had well surpassed the quota. So, at noon hour the kids lined up and ran a pass from the shaver over his head.

Then, after a bit, Denise Watkins, a local beautician, dropped the guard down and finished shaving his head. He admitted it was well worth it to help out a friend who was in need.

He hopes that the amount that was collected not only turned out to be fun for the kids, but maybe will help out his co-worker in a time of need while driving to Billings for treatment.
