DONNA ROSENBERG

Donna Rosenberg, 80, went into the loving arms of Our Lord on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Cremation has taken place and there will be a service held in the spring. Donna was born in Portland, OR on April 16, 1935. She was a member of the Ft. Belknap Gros-Ventre (Aaniiihniin/White Clay) Indian tribe of MT. She had fond memories of spending every summer with her big sister Nancy at the DeCelles ranch with their grandparents Gus and Nancy Adams DeCelles. She remembered taking the train (The Great Northern) from Portland to Harlem during the great depression and traveling with "The G.I.'s" who would sing, tell them stories, and give them candy. They loved those train rides that took about two days or more.

From 1953-1966, Donna was a stay at home wife and mother who enjoyed making family meals, homemade bread, and canning. She was also a good seamstress making clothing for her children, and teaching them how to become self reliant. She was also a room mother in the class rooms while her children were in elementary school.

She worked as a nurse's aid for three years then decided to go back to school. After many trials, she settled on achieving a degree in social work from Haskell Indian Jr. College in Lawrence, KS. Later she enjoyed working with Ft. Belknap Social Services as an on-call Liaison while also working with New Horizons in Harlem, MT. Later moving to Butte, MT she worked with Green Thumb Home Healthcare for nearly ten years. She was a very compassionate person and much loved by those who were in her care.

Donna was a type I diabetic. She was told she would be lucky if she reached the age of sixty-five. But she put up a courageous fight. When she reached her 80th birthday she told her daughter that she was tired of it. She succumbed to complications relating to the diabetes. She will be remembered for her many strengths including battling this disease as she did an amazing job of it.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred Louallen and Thelma DeCelles Rumgay and sister; Nancy Lou Pomeroy.

Donna is survived by her husband of fifteen years Jack Rosenberg Sr., and her five children Mike (Zulema) Clary, Patti Waseta, Jack (Marla) Clary, Jill (Courtney) Harris and Scott (Candy) Skutnick who she fondly called her "Baby Dumpling," And a niece, Nancy Monsrud, who she raised after her sister passed away. She had thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved.

Memorial services for Donna are to be announced at a later time when the weather turns warm again.
