Next generation MOA Officials have a similar look to the past

Mike Seymour and Brad Tilleman have been Montana Officials Association (MOA) members for many years. Both have worked District, Divisional and State tournaments at all levels and are recognizable wherever they officiate.

Last Saturday evening, during Chinook's home opener against the Big Sandy Pioneers, their sons Lane Seymour and Grant Tilleman took the court as MOA officials for the junior varsity girls contest.

Lane and Grant are both graduates of Chinook High School and both earned All-State selections during their playing days at the school.

"It was great to come back and ref in the gym that I've played in since I was little. I went to many state tournaments with my dad, so I've been around the game for awhile and that definitely helps," commented the younger Seymour.

Tilleman had similar thoughts, "I thought coming home to ref was a lot of fun. Being around the game and have played has helped a lot to develop my ref game."

Having been around the game and the influence their dads have had on them both is undeniable, "Being around my dad with the experience he has had has played a big role in it. He knows the rules so well, it makes me want to know them like he does, so I can be confident when I step on the court to officiate," Tilleman concluded.

"It was all in all great to come back to Chinook and ref because my dad was able to watch and evaluate my mechanics," added Seymour.

Fans of the game can expect to see this pair reffing games for many years to come.
