We've Got The County Covered
So, this weekend in the NFL it is the Chiefs at the Patriots. It is Green Bay at Arizona. It is Pittsburgh at the Broncos and it is Seattle at the Panthers. Last week every non home team won. Could it be that this week every home team will win? As usual I have not seen the games yet. More about that at the end of this column.
There are local basketball standings to go over first of all this week. In standings on the boys side in A Havre is third right now. That is all the statewide standings regarding boys basketball teams.
On the girls side of standings it is Box Elder in fourth place in statewide class C.
Breakings things down further into each division and starting with girls, in Central A Havre is first right now. In 2 B Harlem girls are fourth. In 9C it is Box Elder in first followed by Chinook in second. Turner is sixth followed by Big Sandy and the Thunderbirds.
On the boys side of that ledger it is Havre in first in Central A. In 2B it is Harlem in fifth place. In 9C it is Box Elder in second, led by CJI. It is the Thunderbirds in third place and Chinook in fourth. Turner is seventh and Big Sandy is eighth.
Well played winners!
The NFL offered to let the St. Louis Rams go to Las Angeles to play their games in a new stadium to be built in a couple of years. They also offered San Diego the chance to also play in Las Angeles. Apparently there are going to be two teams in Las Angles period. I don’t know why that is. Granted there probably should be one team in that large market but how about not leaving other cities out by letting two teams go to Las Angeles? If San Diego does not want to go to Las Angeles and Oakland Raiders will be offered a spot as the second team in that new stadium.
Well, poor old coach Chip Kelly went from his baptism of fire in Philadelphia to an even worse experience looming for him as he has been hired as the new head coach of the 49ers at San Francisco. One question. Why will he do better in San Francisco than his more than dismal record at Philadelphia. It looks to me like hiring this loser coach is just branding your team as a loser team even more than it is. If he thinks his quarterback problems were bad at Philadelphia, try dealing with Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco!
So, back to what is going to happen this weekend and next weekend in the NFL. I am in a total mind bogglement about this week. Can my Patriots beat the Chiefs? Not if the Tom Brady shows up to work that has shown up for work in the last three weeks. And how come coach Belichick is sporting a big black eye these days?
Will Peyton Manning make it to another Super Bowl this year? They will have to beat Pittsburgh to do it. Can they? That will be tough. Can Seattle possibly beat the Panthers to advance any further this year? And finally will Green Bay be the Green Bay who trounced Washington last week or will they go to Arizona and let themselves fall over and play dead?
I have no answers but you loyal fans are expecting answers so let’s take them slowly one conference at a time.
New England does beat the Chiefs this weekend. Pittsburgh beats Denver so the big game next week will be New England vs. Pittsburgh. New England wins that one and we have one half of the Super Bowl. On the other side of the coin oh how it pains me to say that Carolina beats Seattle. No, let’s change that Robby. Seattle beats Carolina and Arizona beats Green Bay so it is Seattle vs. Arizona and Seattle wins! That is the other half of the Super Bowl. Now I know some of that is fairly wishful, particularly the part about Seattle beating Carolina. But we will see. Stranger things have happened.
So who wins the Super Bowl? Let’s just wait and see how these predictions pan out first.
That is my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
