We've Got The County Covered
Our husband, father and grandfather, Don Martin, was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
A memorial service was held on January 14 in Cut Bank.
Don was born March 23, 1937 in Harlem. He attended Harlem schools, and graduated with honors from Harlem High School. He attended Kansas State University, and graduated from MSU Bozeman with a B.A. in Industrial Arts, and later from the University of Hawaii with an M.P.H in Health Services Administration.
He taught at MSU Northern in Havre, was the Service Unit Director (CEO) of the IHS Hospitals at Ft. Belknap, Whiteriver, AZ, and Browning, and at the clinic in Lame Deer. He served as the assistant to the area director of the Phoenix Area IHS for several years. After leaving IHS, Don opened Martin's Automotive Specialties in Cut Bank, as well as becoming a certified lock smith.
Don's mechanical abilities and people skills are legendary. Don's name means "Leader", which describes him well. He was a prince of a man: kind, helpful to everyone with a genuine love for God and people. He was a vociferous student of the Bible and he carefully applied those principles to his life. He was a man of valor, integrity and character. He loved his family fiercely, and set an exemplary example of how life should be lived for us.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and a sister, Wilma Jean. He will be missed by his survivors: his wife, Irene, daughters Noelle Martin, Dawn (Brad) Martin Moreno, Bethany (Mike) Potts, nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters Patty Quisno, Kalthleen (Gary) McGuire, and bothers John and Michael (Evelyn) Martin, numerous nieces and nephews, and last but not least his Yorkie dog, Tiny.
