The Hays Lodge Pole Thunderbirds won their fifth straight contest Friday night as the defeated the Roy/Winifred Outlaws 68-25 in a non-conference tilt.
No scoring was provided to the Journal as of press time.
Saturday the Thunderbirds were looking to extend the streak to six games when they welcomed the defending District 9C champions to town.
The Thunderbirds were unable to match the fast start by the Bears and dropped the District 9C contest 88-58 ending their five game win streak in the process.
With the weekend split the Thunderbirds fall to 4-3 in conference play and 5-5 overall.
Currently they hold the four seed in the District 9C as the teams have now entered the second half of the season and began jockeying for position in the post season tournament February 17-20 in Havre.
The Thunderbirds will travel this Thursday to Chinook to ace the Sugarbeeters who currently hold the number three seed.
Saturday the team will host the top seed in the District 9C as they welcome the Chester Joplin-Inverness Hawks to town.
