The District 9C leading Box Elder Bears were guests in the Turner gymnasium Thursday evening as the 4-4 Turner girls and the undefeated Bears met once again.
Turner has played all four teams at the top of the conference very well early in each contest. Thursday was more of the same as the Bears held a narrow 10-9 lead over the Turner girls,
Junior Ella Billmayer scored six first quarter points for the Tornadoes.
The second quarter was a much different story. Box Elder held the Tornado offense in check and got their own rolling as they outscored Turner 22-8 in the stanza to take a 32-17 halftime lead.
Things didn't go much better in the third quarter. Box Elder held a 15-3 advantage in the frame to increase their lead to 47-20.
The two teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter which ended with a 58-31 win by the Bears.
Billmayer finished with 12 points in the contest. Junior Melanie Watkins added six and Rennay Watkins four on the evening.
Friday the girls took on the Big Sandy Pioneers in a District 9C clash with both teams looking for their second conference win.
Turner took control of the contest early as they raced out to a 17-6 lead.
Both team played pretty even the second stanza with the Tornadoes able to extend their lead by one to 26-14.
Freshman Rylee Conlan led the tornado effort early with a pair of three point buckets and 9 first half points.
The defenses again controlled the action as the Turner girls limited the Pioneers to just five markers in the third quarter but were able to score just eight themselves.
Turner took a 34-19 into the fourth quarter.
Junior Rennay Watkins scored seven of Turner's 15 points in the final stanza to help the girls secure their second conference win of the season with a 49-33 win over Big Sandy
Conlan finished the contest with 13 points and Watkins 11. Billmayer added eight points as the Tornadoes improved to 2-5 in District 9C action and 5-5 overall.
The team will host North Star Friday and travel to Fort Benton Saturday.
