'Beeters bounce back, thump Big Sandy 73-32

The 'Beeters came out firing on all cylinders Saturday in Big Sandy Saturday taking control early in a dominate effort and rolling to a 75-23 District 9C conference win to improve to 6-3 in conference play and 9-3 overall.

Freshman Derek Bell converted two free throws two start the game. Following a layup from Junior Kyler Johnson. Bell would grab his own miss and score at the rim for a quick 6-0 Chinook lead.

While Bell missed his first two attempts from the field the freshman would convert his next 14 field goals in the contest.

Bell's third basket gave Chinook a 8-0 lead before the Pioneers finally got on the score board. Bell then scored twice, off two beautiful passes from freshman Cord Schneider to lead 12-2.

Schneider scored moments later off an offensive rebound and turned the trick again on the teams next offensive possession to take a 18-2 lead.

Johnson striped the ball and raced the length of the court for an easy two before Schneider finished the quarter with another bucket of his own to give the 'Beeters a 22-2 lead after one.

Freshman Brenden Edwards began the second quarter with a long three point bomb off a dish from junior Robert Smith.

Smith then found Bell breaking to the basket behind the Pioneer defense for a alley-oop and a 27-4 lead.

Edwards would finish with 'Beeter fast Break moments later and the 'Beeters were in cruise control.

Chinook led 40-18 at the break and began the third quarter with the same intensity they began the game with.

Bell added nine points in the stanza, Edwards drained another long three and Schneider added five points of his own to help Chinook extend the lead to 63-30 entering the fourth quarter.

Chinook would limit the Pioneers to a single basket down the stretch in securing a 75-23 District 9C win.

Bell finished 14-17 from the field and 6-7 from the charity stripe for 34 points. Bell also recorded eight rebounds in the win.

Schneider finished with a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 boards including six off the offensive glass. Schneider also collected five blocks and dished out five assists.

Edwards finished with ten points including two from long range. Smith recorded six assists in the win.

Chinook will host Chester-Joplin-Inverness Friday and Head to Box Elder Saturday in pair of huge conference clashes.
