The Harlem Wildcat boys basketball team fell Thursday to the conference leading Malta Mustangs 89-43.
Saturday the team made the trip to Wolf Point where they picked up conference win number two following a 60-48 caging of the Wolves.
Harlem doubled up the Wolves 16-8 in the opening quarter as the boys got off to a quick start.
The offense was matched in the second stanza by the Wolves as Harlem gave three points back but still held a 29-24 advantage at the halftime break.
Both teams began the third quarter matching each other basket for basket with the Wolves trimming another point from Harlem’s halftime lead, closing the gap to 41-37 heading into the final eight minutes of action.
The Wildcats offense found a nice rhythm down the stretch as they were able to extend the advantage early in the quarter before securing a 60-48 win.
Senior Marcus Henry scored a team high 17 points in the win. Senior Keahna Little added 15 points, senior Michael Butterfly 13 and junior Corbin Brockie 10 for a balanced Wildcat attack.
Friday Harlem will play a pair of games against District 1B opponents. Friday the team will travel to Cut Bank to face the Wolves. Saturday the stay home to face the Rocky Boy Stars.
