Michael I Newman

Michael I Newman, 66; left this world on January 25, 2016 from natural causes. He spent his final days surrounded by friends and family. Memorial services will be Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chinook Eagles Club.

Mike was born April 11, 1949 in Stuart, Nebraska to James K. Newman and Mabel Eaton Newman. He attended school in Nebraska where he graduated from Omaha Tech High School in 1967.

He married Zelda Slaymaker and to this union 2 children were born, Tammie and Chad. They later divorced.

He later met and married the love of his life Debra Anderson, in July 1982 and they had one child, James Newman.

Mike worked at different feed lots and with construction companies where he operated various equipment in Nebraska. He moved to Rock Springs, WY in the 70’s to work for Black Butte Coal Company until 1985. He then moved to the Currant Creek Ranch south of Rock Springs where he took care of a 100,000 acre ranch. He cared for cattle, broke horses and enjoyed watching the elk out of his front window. In 1990, Mike and family moved to Harlem to help his wife’s family, and work for Reece Keller in the Bear’s Paw Mountains. He later worked for Francis Bardanouve for a time and then went to work for CHS in 2008, where he was currently employed. He enjoyed his job and coworkers as well as all of the customers.

He enjoyed team roping and in his younger days he rode bulls professionally. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and target shooting with family. He was good with his hands and liked to fix things, especially helping his “little sis” Marie. They were always fixing something at “Mom Anderson’s place”. His family was his life. He loved them all and was very proud of all they had accomplished.

He was proceeded in death by his mom and dad, his sister Joyce Garwood, niece Lisa Garwood, grandparents and father –in- law Gilbert Anderson.

Left behind to mourn him are his loving wife of 33 years, his children Tammie (JJ) Parks, Chad (Cory) Newman and James (Ashley) Newman. His grandchildren Emily and Ashley Parks, Tanner Newman, Gianni and Carmine Newman. His brother Charles K. “Chuck” (Shelly) Newman, a sister Jan (Bob) Obst, brother in law Eric (Sally) Garwood, Mother in law Betty Anderson, sister in law Marie (Jason Waggoner) Anderson, brother in laws Greg Anderson, Bruce (Sally) Anderson, Scoot (Missy) Anderson, Jim (Tracy) Anderson, Bill (Kari Jamieson) Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
