Philomayne Tucker (Travois Woman), 79, passed away on January 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Wake services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Chief Nosey Center in Lodge Pole. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Chief Nosey Center in Lodge Pole. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Philomayne was born to George Shields, Sr. and Isabel (Lodge) Shields on June 27, 1937 at Fort Belknap. She completed her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, followed by a Master's degree, also in education.
Philomayne's passion for education went far beyond her 23 year career in teaching in Hays and Lodge Pole. Following her retirement, she went to work for head start. Her creative abilities were endless. Additionally, she was a frequent traveler, living up to her Indian name (Travois Woman) while always making friends and touching lives.
Loved by many as a teacher, friend, mentor, mother and grandmother, she lived her life as a giver that influenced and blessed more than she knew.
Philomayne is preceded in death by her father George Shields Sr., mother Isabel (Lodge) Shields, brother; George (Sonny) Shields Jr., William (Billy) Shields, Bernard Shields and Bradley Shields, sisters Yvonne Shields and Georgina Shields.
Philomayne is survived by her husband of 58 years Rhinehart Tucker of Lodge Pole, daughters Becky (John) Andrews of St. Paul, Minnesota and Dawn Michelle (Donavon) Oleyte of Billings, son Gary (Tarri) Tucker of Great Falls, brother; Leroy (Squeaky) Shields of Fort Belknap and sister Brenda Shields of Chinook.
