The Turner Tornadoes were looking to cap a great Homecoming week with a win and they did just that earning a thrilling overtime victory over the Dodson Coyotes 57-51 Thursday night.
Turner got off to a good start leading 14-6 after eight minutes and 28-18 at the intermission.
The Coyotes stormed back in the third quarter trimming the Turner lead to 36-34 before forcing overtime.
Turner would win the extra period 10-4 to earn the entertaining 57-51 non-conference win giving the season sweep over the Coyotes.
Senior Bret VanValkenburg led the team with 17 points in the win.
Sophomore Eddie Harmon added 15 for the Tornadoes while freshman Cody Welsh chipped in 11 and senior Tyler Humphreys 10 in the win.
Saturday the team made the trek west to Chester to face the Hawks, falling 76-40 in the contest.
Freshman Cody Welsh led the Tornadoes with 12 points. Harmon added 11 and VanValkenburg 9
With the weekend action complete the Tornadoes stand at 1-9 in District 9C play and 3-11 overall.
They will travel to Hays Friday to face the Thunderbirds, Saturday they will stay home and entertain the Chinook Sugarbeeters.
