We've Got The County Covered
Tomorrow is Sunday and there is no football. I volunteered at church to usher for awhile hoping that shock would chase away the shock of no football.
But things are still going on. Let’s look at some standings. That is a good place to start.
In the Frontier League it is on the women’s side of things Lewis and Clark in first followed by Carroll. Northern is fourth followed by Rocky in fifth place.
On the men’s side, it is Lewis and Clark in first followed by Carroll. Rocky is in fourth and Northern is in fifth.
Looking at the woman’s side in the Big Sky it is Montana State in first place. Montana is in sixth.
On the Big Sky men’s side it is Montana in first place. Montana State is in seventh place.
In Prep basketball standings, let’s do the girl’s side first. Havre is first in Central A. Harlem is fourth in 2 B. In 9C going into district action it is Box Elder, Chinook, Fort Benton and North Star. Turner is sixth and the Thunderbirds are eighth.
On the boy’s side, it is Havre coming in second in Central A with Belgrade leading. In 2 B Harlem is fourth. In 9C it is Box Elder followed by C J I, then the Thunderbirds followed by Chinook. Turner is in seventh place.
Most everybody knows that in the Super Bowl played last Sunday it was Denver over Carolina 24 to 10. Sad thing about the game was that it was Carolina’s game to lose from the git go! Denver played slow and steady and with a great defense just like they had played Pittsburgh and New England. Peyton Manning was certainly not the star of the show. That went to Von Miller a Denver linebacker. It used to be that the most valuable player would get a new Escalade. If that is still the case, Miller certainly deserved it!
I was appalled at the conduct of Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton who attired himself in a dark hoodie and would not answer question from reporters. That just does not happen in Super Bowl situations. Later Newton said the whole thing was overblown but no it was not. Newton needs to do a lot of growing before getting to another Super Bowl in the NFL!
The big question this week that has not yet been answered is will Peyton retire now that he has his second Super Bowl ring? And, with that, will Kalispell’s Brock Osweiler continue on as the quarterback at Denver?
I keep hearing that Manning wants to buy into the Tennessee Titans franchise and become an owner. That sort of makes sense since Manning played his college football at Tennessee. He knows and loves the state.
As for Brock Osweiler, yes he will be the quarterback for Denver if Manning steps down. At least that is what I am hearing from those who just might know.
Big names in a new class of NFL Football Hall of Fame inductees include Brett Favre and coach Tony Dungy. The late Ken Stabler made it too. Best of all was former 49ers owner Eddy DeBartolo Jr. DeBartolo has a horse ranch just outside of Whitefish and spends a lot of time in Montana. He has been seen in Bucky May’s bar, the Bulldog in Whitefish and people say he is a great person. I am very happy he made it to the Hall of Fame because his family is famous in their ownership of the 49ers. The York family that owns the team now I believe is closely related to Eddy DeBartolo.
How about the top ten Super Bowls 50 commercials next week?
That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
