The Turner Tornadoes conclude their regular season campaign with a 58-36 drubbing of the Big Sandy Pioneers Friday night. Thursday the girls fell to top seeded Box Elder 58-36.
Turner played tough against the top seeded Bears early on trailing 14-8 entering the second. The Bears opened the offense up a bit and tightened the defense as they outscored the Tornadoes 20-5 in the second to take a 34-13 lead at the break.
In the End the Bears kept their distance in securing the 58-36 win. Junior Ella Billmayer led all scorers in the contest with 15 points.
Against Big Sandy the girls were never challenged opening a 10-4 lead on the strength of three pointers from eighth grader Sarah Billmayer and freshman Rylee Conlan.
Ella Billmayer scored eight of Turners ten second quarter points helping the Tornadoes to a 20-4 halftime lead.
Rylee Conlan knocked down a pair of third quarter three point bombs and tallied nine points as the Tornadoes extended their lead to 35-8 with eight minutes to go.
Ella Billmayer scored eight more fourth quarter points in helping Turner secure a 47-20 win.
Ella Billmayer again led all scorers with 20 points Rylee Conlan added 14 and seven girls dressed scored for the Tornadoes.
With the win the Tornadoes finish the regular season with a 5-9 conference record and a 9-9 overall mark.
Turner has earned the districts No. 6 seed and will now turn Their attention to the District 9C Tournament which begins Thursday in Havre at the high school gymnasium.
The Tornadoes will begin play against the Fort Benton Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The Longhorns won both regular season contest but the girls were close and tournaments can change everything.
The top three teams at the District 9C Tournament will advance to the Northern C Divisional February 24-27 at the Four Seasons in Great Falls.
