Tornadoes sweep Big Sandy with 57-36 win

The Turner Tornadoes completed the season sweep of the Big Sandy Pioneers with a 57-36 shellacking of the Big Sandy Pioneers Friday night, finishing the season 2-12 in District 9C play and 4-14 overall.

The Tornadoes trailed 11-10 heading into the second quarter but a offensive explosion, highlighted by a trio of long bombs from senior Tyler Humphreys gave Turner a 31-17 lead at the halftime break.

The second half mirrored the first as Big Sandy outscored Turner 10-8 early but the Tornadoes finished strong doubling up the Pioneers in the fourth 18-9 to take a 57-36 conference win to end the regular season.

Humphreys finished with a game high 16 points including four from beyond the arc. Sophomore Eddie Harmon contributed 13 points and freshman Cody Welsch 10 in the win.

Turner has earned the No. 7 seed at this weeks District 9C Tournament being played at the Havre High School gymnasium. They will begin play Wednesday evening against the No. 2 seeded Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks at 7:30 p.m.
