The Turner Tornadoes concluded a fine season on the hardwood that saw them finish with a win at the District 9C tournament for the second year in a row.

The Tornadoes entered the tournament as the districts number six seed and began tournament play against the number three seeded Fort Benton Longhorns Thursday afternoon.

The Longhorns took a 14-4 lead but after a couple of buckets from junior Ella Billmayer and a free throw by Sarah Billmayer the Tornadoes had trimmed the lead to 14-10.

Turner found themselves down 20-12 at the break. Following the intermission the Tornadoes struggled to get their offense going as Fort Benton opened up a 31-16 advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Turner would fall in the opener 40-22. Ella Billmayer finished with eight points to lead the Tornadoes.

In loser out action Friday morning the Tornadoes faced a Hays/Lodge Pole team they had swept during the regular season.

They expanded the lead in the third with a 16-2 advantage in the quarter to open up a 55-22 lead. Turner cruised the rest of the way to a 67-33 win, defeating the Thunderbirds in the District 9C tournament and ending their season for the second straight year.

Freshman Raegan Conlan scores a game high 18 points. Elle Billmayer added 17 and corralled a game high 14 rebounds in the win. Junior Rennay Watkins added ten markers and nine rebounds.

Turner had a great start against

North Star, leading 14-4 heading into the second quarter but from that point on the game belonged to the Knights.

Turner maintained a 19-14 advantage at the break only to see the tables turn in the third quarter as North Star took a 31-26 lead en-route to a 46-33 win.

Ella Billmayer finished the season with a great effort, scoring 16 while knocking down three from long range and grabbing ten boards.

Freshman Rylee Conlan added seven points, Raegan Conlan scored four points and grabbed five rebounds.

Turner finishes the season with a 10-11 record. It marks the first 10 win season for the Tornadoes since their return to varsity ball.

Turner senior, Tyler Anderson is the only departure from a roster that has played plenty of varsity basketball games together. The squad will be an experienced group when the 2016-17 season rolls around and look to take the next step.
