Barbara Cowan, a homemaker 88, died after suffering a myocardial infarction March 9, 2016. A gathering of family and friends was held from 4:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the family ranch with supper at 5:00 PM. Funeral Service was at the Malta Lutheran Church 10:30 A.M, Monday March 14, 2016. After a lunch provided by the Loring and Whitewater ladies and Malta Circle the family will be traveling to Turner Cemetery for interment. Everyone who wishes to travel along is welcome. Barbara Lee (Stubblefield) Cowan had been living at the Hi-Line Retirement Center. She was born on September 20, 1927, to Millie and Everett Stubblefield, the middle daughter of three. She attended school at Loring and finished high school in Malta before she went to Northern in Havre for a brief time. She married Eugene E. Cowan and raised four children, Richmund Scott (Roxanne), Scottsdale, AZ, Dixie Lee Stordahl (Tom) of the family farm in Loring, Deborah Lou Richau (Greg) Billings, Dee Lyn Arndt, of Kalispell.

Barbara was a lifelong member of the Loring Lutheran Church. She was a 50 year member of the Loring Womans' Club, and Order of Eastern Star, Sacajawea Chapter #37 in Malta, and 39 years in P.E.O. a philanthropic organization. Other than being an awesome dancer, she was famous for three things: Wheat Weaving, Popcorn balls and her sweet disposition.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, Ross Cowan, Superior, CO, Regan Cowan, Scottsdale, AZ, Rodney Stordahl, Loring, David Stordahl, Billings, Sienna Richau and Benjamin Richau both of Billings, Sally Arndt, Christopher Arndt and Jessie Arndt, all of Kalispell, 16 great grandchildren, a sister, Thelma Jean Bjorklund (Gary) of Cut Bank, nephews Tim Cowan, Rusty Cowan, Ken Ulrich, Brian Bjorklund, Joe Gordon and Jerry Gordon, nieces Laurie Bjorklund, Lisa Askelson.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, her parents, and sister, Audrey Ulrich.
