We've Got The County Covered

Blaine County Library

Next week, Blaine County Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating the dynamic changes that are happening in today’s libraries. April 10-16 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library workers.

Libraries today are more about what they do, for and with library users as opposed to what they have for patrons. Libraries aren’t only a place of quiet study, but also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies, learn how to use a 3D printer or just relax. Our library offers access to a variety of print and digital resources, including books, 3 local newspapers, magazines, DVDs, and Audio Books. From our website you can access the Online Catalog, MontanaLibrary2Go for downloadable audio and e-books, World Book Web, Discover It!, EBSCO online databases, Searchasaurus, Kids Search, Student Research, Auto Repair and Heritage Quest Online.

Libraries of all types are evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. At the Blaine County Library we are transforming by expanding our programs for children and adults, providing technology help and Wi-Fi for our patrons. We will begin Internet and Computer training classes for adults this summer.

Service to the community has always been the focus of the library, more so today than ever before. Libraries level the playing field for people of any age who are seeking the information and access to technologies that will improve their quality of life.

Libraries are many things to many people. They work with elected officials, small business owners, students and the public at large to discover and address the needs of their communities. Whether through offering e-books and technology classes, materials for English-language learners, programs for job seekers or offering a safe haven in times of crisis, libraries and librarians listen to the community they serve, and they respond.

The Blaine County Library is celebrating National Library Week by having a drawing for children and adults. We will be giving out book bags and book marks to everyone who checks something out. We will also be doing a survey to see how well we are serving the public and to see where we need to make improvements.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
