We've Got The County Covered
Thank you to everyone who stopped in and helped us celebrate National Library Week. We would like to say thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out a survey, which will guide us in making improvements in our service. We appreciate every one of you! Hope Huckabee was the lucky winner of the children’s drawing and Sarah Pratt was the winner of the adult drawing.
Thanks to the generosity of Triangle Communications, the library was the recipient of a computer lab with 10 laptop computers. We will be using the computers for technology training starting later this summer.
Speaking of this summer, Kelsey was very busy planning for the Summer Reading Program before she left for maternity leave. Many of the Tuesday programs will follow the STEAM program of learning. What is STEAM you ask? STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. We are looking for items to include in an Inventor Supply Lab. Most of the items we will need will be recycled materials. The Inventor Supply Lab will be filled with materials that children can use to design and create their own projects and inventions. We are currently accepting: empty and dry water bottles, cardboard tubes, wheels of any kind (which could include bottle caps, corks or any other round object), tape (masking, duct, electrical tape), cereal boxes, Kleenex boxes, packing supplies such as foam or bubble wrap, crafting supplies you may want to get rid of, hot glue guns, and anything else you think could be used to create something fabulous. We will have a large box available for placing your donation in.
In the April 6 newspaper Steve Edwards wrote a piece titled “2016: Year of Pulses (Crops) and Montana is number one producer.” If you were intrigued by that article and would like to know more, we have the book for you. “Lentil Underground” by Liz Carlisle is the story of renegade farmers and the future of food in America. It is the fascinating story of a group of small Montana farmers who ignited a revolution. This book was selected as the 2015 Montana Book Award. The Montana Book Award is an annual award that recognizes literary and/or artistic excellence in a book published during the award year. Eligible titles are either set in Montana, deal with Montana themes/issues, or are written, edited or illustrated by a Montana author or artist.
Inspired by a real life World War II heroine, “Lilac Girls” is a powerful debut novel by Martha Hall Kelly. It reveals an incredible story of love, redemption, and terrible secrets that were hidden for decades. Fans of Lisa Scottoline will be excited to know that we have her latest book, “Most Wanted.” Christine Nilsson and her husband, Marcus, are desperate for a baby. Unable to conceive, they find themselves facing a difficult choice they had never anticipated. After many appointments with specialists, endless research, and countless conversations, they make the decision to use a donor. Two months pass, and Christine is happily pregnant. But one day, she is shocked to see a young blond man on the TV news being arrested for a series of brutal murders and the blond man bears an undeniable and uncanny resemblance to her donor. Christine must confront a terrifying reality and face her worst fears. “Most Wanted” poses an ethical and moral dilemma: What would you do if the biological father of your unborn child was a killer?
