We've Got The County Covered
Appointments are highly encouraged by the American Red Cross. So, if you have not made an appointment you can go on-line at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-REDCROSS). The Red Cross will begin accepting walk in donors at 12:30. Walk in slots will also be available each hour throughout the day.
Any healthy person age 18 (or age 16 or 17 with a signed parental consent) or older and weighing at least 110 pounds is eligible and encouraged to donate blood. Valid identification is required for all blood donations (driver’s license or school ID are acceptable). Parental consents for those 16 or 17 years of age can be picked up at the high school office or at the registration table at Wallner Hall the day of the drive.
For those with an appointment, you can save up to 15 minutes at your donation by completing the health history online the day of the drive. All you have to do is visit redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
Before donating it is recommended that you: Get a good night’s sleep; have a good breakfast or lunch; drink extra water and fluids to replace the volume you will donate (try to avoid beverages with caffeine); eat iron-rich foods; avoid fatty foods.
At the blood drive in March there were 51 donors that registered, 6 donors were deferred and 44 units were collected. We registered one first time donor Wade Schneider, Michelle Pruttis received an 8-gallon pin and Steven Mulonet received a 1-gallon pin. Thanks everyone for stopping by to give your life saving gift.
The United Methodist Church again provided the site for the drive at Wallner Hall and their hospitality is greatly appreciated. The Canteen was hosted by the American Lutheran Church, their willingness to volunteer their time is also greatly appreciated as is the volunteers at the registration table and those assisting with clean up after the drive.
Door prizes were provided by the volunteers from the American Lutheran Church and the North Central Montana Cattle Women.
Finley’s food farm donated the drinks and paper products for the drive.
