District track and field meets are just a week away with the District 9C being conducted next Wednesday in Havre and the District 2B in Glasgow next Saturday.
The Harlem Wildcat boys are looking sharp as the calendar turns to May. In Lewistown this past weekend. The boys scored 34.5 points on the day.
Junior Damon Adams captured the 400 meter crown(:52.57) while also earning a runner up finish in the 200 meter dash (:22.78).
Adams also excelled in the long jump for the Wildcats, winning the event with a leap of 18’10.75”.
Tyus Hammett earned points in the 110 meter hurdles (5th - :20.77) and the 300 meter hurdles (6th - :47.72). Hammett also added a fifth place finish in the high jump (5’6”)
Corbin Brockie was third in the triple jump for the Wildcats (37’0.5”) as was the 4x100 meter relay.
Senior Emma Humphreys scored the points for the Wildcat girls finishing fourth in the shot put (30’11” and sixth in the discus (78’3”).
The Chinook Sugarbeeters had two athletes place at the Fairfield Invitational held in Great Falls this past Saturday.
Senior Kailey Kleinjan finished third in the 100 meter dash (:13.53). Junior Kyler Johnson earned a fifth place finish in the 1600 meter run finishing the four laps in 4:50.80.
This week began with the Jason Grossclose Memorial track and field meet being held in Rudyard. Tuesday was the Top 10 meet in Glasgow.
Chinook, Hays/Lodge Pole and Turner had several athletes fare well at the Grossclose. The Turner girls finished third in the team race with 68 points while the Turner boys were also third finishing with 58 points.
Those invited to the Top Ten in Glasgow did not compete in Rudyard Monday. Full results from the Top Ten will be in next weeks paper.
The Sugarbeeters sent Senior Kyler Johnson, Kailey Kleinjan, junior Rochelle Chaffin, junior Taylor Neibauer, sophomore Abby Ellison, freshman Kourtney Hanson and freshman Megan Molyneaux to Glasgow.
Turner sophomore Eddie Harmon was expected to compete at the Top Ten as was Hays/Lodge Pole sophomore Isaiah RunsAbove.
In Rudyard, Turner sophomore Jaye Anderson placed in four events. Anderson won the long jump (13’9”) was second in th 400 meter dash (1:10.00 and 200 meter dash (:30.40) while also adding a third place finish in the triple jump (28’0”)
Hays/Lodge Poles Isaiah RunsAbove also placed in four events. RunsAbove won the 3200 meter run in convincing fashion finishing with a time of 10:54.80. He also added a third in the 800 meter run (2:26.20) a fourth in the high jump (4’10”) and a sixth in the javelin (112’1”)
Chinook junior Brooke Elliot placed fourth in three events. Elliot earned the placings in the discus (77’5”), the shot put (27’4.5”) and the javelin (27’4.5”).
Turner sophomore Eddie Harmon competed in the 100 meter dash and won the event with a time of :12.00. Harmon combined with Damian Schuhmacher, Bret VanValkenburg and Cody Welsh to win the short relay (50.90) and the long relay (4:16.10) for the Tornadoes.
