We've Got The County Covered
Harlem newest church in town, the Set Free Christian Fellowship hosted a Day at the Church for local families on Sunday May 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The services was really about Unity in the Community," Pastor A.J. Jensen said on Sunday. "And, the church is a plant from Havre and Great Falls. It's going good, God is working. We are a motorcycle ministry and we get people that may not go to other churches."
This past August, Servants for Christ seized the opportunity to house their ministry at the former Montana Southern Baptist Church ran by Pastor Herndon and his wife.
"We are here to show the love of Christ because He is here for all of us," Pastor Jensen said.
Currently, the ministry has 12 members in their congregation and there are eight volunteer missionaries who help the pastor run the church and its services.
The Unity in the Community event hosted a free barbecue for the community following the 10 a.m. morning services that lasted until 2 p.m. They gave out more than 150 hotdogs, 150 hamburgers and 150 snowcones and the event was well attended. The same type of community gathering was held the previous day in Havre with more than 450 in attendance.
The Montana Southern Baptist Convention will help the new ministry for one year with monthly financial contributions.
"We're self-sufficient pretty much which is why we were able to host these events," Pastor Jensen said. "We are not paid missionaries or pastoral staff. We are all volunteers. We are non-denominational. The Assembly of God and the Church of God are part of our ministry."
Jensen says the church is not about religiosity at all, it is to teach about what it is to be a disciple of Christ.
Set Free Christian Fellowship is located at 209 2nd Ave. SE in Harlem, MT.
Another Assembly of God Church ran by Pastor Jackson and his wife Melissa, located on Main Street in Harlem, is hosting Youth Night on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with good attendance.
