Another competitive summer swim season concluded this weekend in Hamilton with the Montana State Federation swim meet.
In what has turned out to be another record setting season in the pool for the Chinook Lions and a banner year for the Harlem swim teams, both shined in Hamilton.
The Chinook 8 and Under boys relay teams established new Federation, State and Pool records in both the 100 Yard Freestyle and 100 yard Medley Relays.
Saturday the quartet of Kohen Sullivan, Nathaniel Plainfeather, Brockton Elliot and Daniel Tilleman swam a state best 1:06.67 in the freestyle relay to capture their first gold medal.
Sunday the quartet again turned the trick, completing the four legs of the Medley relay in 1:19.51 to win their second gold of the meet.
Tilleman wasn't done with setting records. Daniel first set his own pool record in the 25 Yard Freestyle race, touching the wall in :15.16 to win his third gold medal.
Later in the afternoon Daniel collected his fourth gold in record fashion as well. Tilleman completed the 50 Yard Freestyle in :34.31 to establish a new pool record.
Daniel added a silver medal in the 25 Yard Breaststroke (:21.98) and finished in a three way tie for High Point honors with 40.
Chinooks Katie Tilleman established a new pool record of her own while competing in Hamilton.
Katie swam a fast lap of :22.41 in the 25 Yard Breaststroke to capture gold in the event and establish the new pool standard.
Katie also took home top honors in the 25 Yard Freestyle with a gold medal time of :22.41. She concluded her state swim with a fourth place finish in the 25 Yard Backstroke.
The 11-12 boys 200 Yard Freestyle relay team of Jackson Schmele, Oskar Pula, Brad Borjas and Benton Elliot were record setters as well.
The tandem set a new State, Federation and Pool record in the event that saw them take home the gold with a time of 1:58.48. The team finished third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay on Sunday.
The Lions 9-10 girls relay quartet of Morgan Friede, Anna Terry, Hallie Neibauer and Britton Elliot were gold medal winners over the weekend as well.
Saturday they took home the top spot in the 100 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:03.23. Sunday the foursome finished second in the 100 Yard Medley Relay clocking in with a time of 1:15.12.
Harlem's Taggert Devaney is a state champion following a superb performance in the 13-14 boys 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Devaney completed the four lengths of the pool in 1:12.32 to win the gold. Taggert also added a pair of silver medals to his state swim count. His time of 2:30.05 was good for second in the 200 Yard Individual Medley while his effort of 1:10.44 was runner up in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
Chinook's Brockton Elliot was a silver medal winner in the 8 and Under boys 100 Yard Individual Medley completing the for disciplines in 1:37.78.
Kohen Sullivan added to the Lions medal count, picking up a silver medal in the 25 Yard Backstroke clocking in at :20.94.
Britton Elliot medaled at the state meet, earning a silver in the 25 Yard Freestyle with a time of :32.28.
Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen completed a fine season in the pool finishing second in the 11-12 boys 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of :32.64.
Rasmussen also picked up a pair of Bronze medals while at the state meet finishing third in the 200 Yard Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Backstroke.
Every swimmer that swam the final weekend of the season had a great year. To compete at the state meet is to compete with the best.
The Chinook Lions qualified 46 swimmers and finished fifth overall just behind Sydney, Bitterroot, Conrad and Lewistown. The Lions finished second in the relay standings just behind Bitterroot.
Harlem qualified 10 for the final weekend and posted some impressive numbers as well finishing fifteenth overall.
Congratulations to all the swimmers who swam in Hamilton and helped their respective teams finish so well in the standings.
Nathanial Plainfeather, Gavin Schmele and Jacob Metcalf, Lane Hasler, Hallie Neibauer, Unique Jendro, Anna Terry, Belle Elliot, Gemma Sharples, Cherish Borjas, Benton Elliot, Jackson Schmele, Brad Borjas, Tyler Schoen, Reece Elliot, Ella Sharples, Shane Friede, Erin Pula, Trajan Hannum, Steven Mulonet, Kade Friede and Brandon Morneau all helped the Lions achieve their high mark.
Svea Hogan, Marie Hogan, Alaura Hawley, Alaney Hawley, Jevyn Schuhmacher and Lance Blackcrow also scored points for the Harlem swim team.
