We've Got The County Covered
The Harlem Wildcat Volleyball team has been practicing for just over a week now and look forward to getting to play matches against other opponents.
They will get that opportunity this weekend when they will take three teams to play in the Annual Malta Pre-Season Tournament.
This years squad again has very strong number which allows head coach Kim Faulkinberry an opportunity to field a varsity, junior varsity and C-squad which only helps the program grow.
The Wildcats have had solid numbers for a few years now and are starting to see the benefits of their hard work.
The team does have some big shoes to fill this fall but they are plenty capable of doing just that. "Although we lost 6 seniors from last year's team to graduation, I am optimistic," stated Faulkinberry.
With every new season comes the opportunity for young kids to step in and assume new larger roles within the team.
"We may be young as a whole, but what we lack in experience we will make up for in enthusiasm and hard work. The girls have worked very hard for the first week of practice and we, as a coaching staff, are pleased with their progress," concluded Faulkinberry.
Harlem again will face a challenging schedule, being part of the District 2B and Northern B doesn't provide many easy matches but that strength of schedule will only help them come tournament time.
Following the season opening tournament in Malta the Wildcats will begin match play in Saco against Class C North Country. They will then head to the Native American Classic for another round robin tournament before stepping into conference play Friday, September 9 against perennial powerhouse Malta in Malta.
The Wildcats home opener is the following night, September 10, when they will face the Glasgow Scotties.
Harlem will also host important District 2B Conference clashes against Malta on October 6, Wolf Point October 8 and Poplar October 22.
The Wildcats will honor their seniors with a celebration prior to their contest against Poplar.
The District 2B Tournament will take place in Malta October 28-29 with four teams advancing to the Northern B Divisional in Shelby the following week. Two teams from their will advance to the State B in Bozeman.
