We've Got The County Covered
The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds fell in their home opener to the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks Saturday afternoon 30-22.
The Thunderbirds have been very competitive early on this season competing in the Northern C for the first time.
Hays/Lodge Pole kept the game close start to finish after losing junior running back Chance Main to an undisclosed injury in the first quarter.
Senior Frank RunsAbove took over the backfield duties for the Thunderbirds.
Hays/Lodge Pole trailed the Hawks 16-8 at the intermission and were not able to close the gap in the second half to fall to 0-2 on the season.
The Thunderbirds will play under the lights this Friday when they head to Fort Benton where they will look to pick up their first win of the young season.
The Harlem Wildcats suffered a 66-0 loss to the Shelby Coyotes of the District 2B
The Wildcats are a young team that have been making strides in the right direction under the tutelage of head coach Kelly Mills.
A loss of this nature certainly is not the way a team wants to start the season but they did accomplish some things in the contest and Mills will have his team ready to make changes and adjustments as they move further along in the season.
Harlem will hit the road this Friday to face the District 2B Rocky Boy Stars.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
