Plan Ahead! The 25th Annual Hassle Free Christmas Program is scheduled for Thursday December 1st. If you are interested in doing something for our Hassle Free Program or you know someone who may be interested in doing a presentation, let us know. It is hard to believe that this will be the 25th year for this program!

Wednesday Movies have begun. We will show a movie every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. The movie today will be “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors”, which runs for 85 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. “The Lady in the Van” will be the movie next Wednesday.

Library staff will be holding beginner computer classes this month. The first class will be an e-mail class, Monday September 19th from 6 -7 p.m. September 26th we will have a Facebook class from 6-7 p.m. You must either have attended the first class or have a working e-mail address in order to set up a Facebook account. Class size is limited. Please call or stop into the library or the Senior Center to register for the classes.

Youth programs have resumed for the school year. Story Time is Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Kids of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend. LEGO Club is Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades K-6. The library will be partnering with the Plant a Seed Read program at the Sugarbeet Festival. Be sure to stop by our booth and see what it’s all about and find out what the library has to offer and register for our door prizes. The library will be closing at 4:00 p.m. Friday September 23rd, so staff can supervise the train derby building workshop, which will be located next to Shore’s Floral. Kelsey will be doing a Story Time and craft Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on Main Street. Middle School Hangout for September will be Tuesday September 27th at 3:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades 6-8.

New movies this week are Me Before You and Jungle Book. We have 2 non-fiction books and a number of suspense novels ready to go this week. It is never too early to start thinking about Christmas and checking out “Christmas with Southern Living 2016” is a great way to get started. “In Such Good Company” by Carol Burnett is all about her weekly variety show that was a hit for eleven years. If you like suspense, we have plenty to choose from. “The Shattered Tree” by Charles Todd, “A Great Reckoning” by Louise Penny, “Puppet Master” by Dale Brown, “Revenge in a Cold River” by Anne Perry and “Apprentice in Death” by J.D. Robb are new suspense/thrillers ready to go this week.
