I spent the last part of September in Glacier National Park at Lake McDonald and it was glorious as usual.
Miracle of miracles, Going-To-The-Sun Road was open and it was showing fall foliage like I have never seen up there ever.
Not only that but where the large forest fire burned last year in the vicinity of Baring Creek, there are views and vistas showing that have never been seen from the road before. It is simply awesome!
While there, we stayed in cabin 6 at the Village Lodge and the views looking up at the Garden Wall and adjoining mountains were simply beautiful. I got up at dawn each day to see if I could catch some alpenglow but only one little bit of alpenglow showed itself in the days we were there. But the views were awesome and seemed to get to be more awesome each day.
One night we drove to Whitefish and had some of the best spaghetti and meatballs I have ever tasted at an Italian restaurant there. Now I am at home busy trying to see if I can make spaghetti and meatballs as well as it is made in Whitefish. So far I have not been able to.
While in Glacier, we toured the Blankenship bridge area which led us to the Camas road and all over that area was some of the finest fall foliage I have ever seen!
When it was time to come home, I hated to leave. It was good to get home but oh, how I miss cabin 6 and the view looking up Lake McDonald.
We are so very lucky here in this part of Montana to live so close to glorious Glacier National Park!
