David Ramberg, 69, of Spearfish, South Dakota died unexpectedly on November 9, 2016.
A memorial service was held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Military honors were provided by the Spearfish Honor Guard.
David Ramberg was born April 12, 1947 in Havre, Montana to Harry and Lena (Albrecht) Ramberg. David was raised on a farm and attended country school until high school when he moved to town to graduate from Chinook High School. David attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, Washington and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1967. He was stationed on the Kearsarge and Coral Sea before being honorably discharged in March of 1971. He met Gale Schubring and they were married in Chinook, Montana on June 10, 1973. They had one daughter, Julie while living in Conrad, Montana. David worked as a financial controller for a farm implement business until a move to Havre, Montana to work for a farm cooperative. After a few short moves around Montana the family moved to Wyoming, where they spent the next 25 years, David continued to work as a financial controller at another cooperative and retired in 2009. David and Gale moved to Spearfish in 2010. David embraced life in South Dakota and in retirement. He was soon volunteering at the VFW, American Legion, Spearfish Honor Guard, Red Cross, RSVP, High Plains Heritage Center and Ft. Meade VA Medical Center. He also enjoyed showing and talking about his petrified wood and rock collections; with talks at Western Dakota Gen. and Mineral Society and the Rocky Mountain Federation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lena Ramberg, brothers; Chris, Warner and Frank and sisters, Erna and Carolyn.
David is survived by his wife, Gale, daughter, Julie, grandson, Kayden all of Spearfish, SD, brother, Harry Ramberg of Chinook, MT, sisters; Anna Thorp of Fort Benton, MT, Eileen Gachne of Puyallup, WA, Myrtle Franzen of Helena, MT, Mildred Dawson of Chinook, MT, Linda Mackenstadt of Whitefish, MT, Carla (Jim) Hunt of Laurel, MT, Mary Ellen (Brian) Baker of Harlem, MT and Susan (Rod) Sargent of Billings, MT and numerous nieces and nephews,
