The headlines in one newspaper last week reported that Montana’s Dan Carpenter, the kicker for Buffalo was hurt due to officiating mistakes in Seattle, that Tom Brady is back and better than ever and that the Cowboys, with their new quarterback, Dak Prescott have built a comfortable lead in the NFC.
Let’s take all three of those stories one by one.
Dallas was 7 and 1 coming into this last weekend. This is as good as Dallas has been for a long time and the question going around in the minds of good Dallas fans is what happens when Tony Romo is all healed up and wanting his quarterback position back. I would guess it is the same thing that happened to Drew Bledsoe, Patriots quarterback, when he was injured and Tom Brady took over. Dallas is going to play their best quarterback and it looks like that is Prescott.
The Patriots are 7 and 1 going into this last week as well. And, Tom Brady looks to be fit and healthy and really on his game. Could it be that the four game suspension was really a four game vacation and he took a good rest and now is raring to go. Are the Patriots Super Bowl bound? I certainly think so and it could be a Dallas vs. New England Super Bowl at that.
Meanwhile what happened in Seattle is that Dan Carpenter got a really bad hit in the leg as he was preparing for a field goal attempt and Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman hit him hard. It wasn’t so much that the hit was so bad, it was that that there was no call of unnecessary roughness out of the referee and even worse, this sort of bad officiating has come out of Seattle more than once in the last couple of years. It seems to me like Seattle is like a lightning rod for bad officiating.
There were two other big stories this last week. The Colts went to Green Bay and beat the Packers 31 to 26 which was amazing and in Denver, they seem like they are collapsing right before our very eyes.
They started out so strong but before this weekend they had gone into a six and 3 record and there was definitely something wrong.
No hope for MSU to get into the playoffs but if UM won their game with Northern Colorado and if they win the Bobcat/Grizzly game next weekend, they will be playoff bound.
That is a good lead into predictions so let’s just get going on some. The Bobcat/Grizzly game will be played at Missoula this weekend and it looks to me like the Griz will win that one and go on into the playoffs.
Can you believe it! It is already week 11 in the mighty NFL.
Thursday football pairs New Orleans at Carolina. Let’s make that an upset and give it to New Orleans. On Sunday it is Buffalo losing to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh beating Cleveland and Dallas beating Baltimore. It is Detroit over Jacksonville, Tennessee losing to the Colts and Kansas City beating Tampa Bay. It is Minnesota over Arizona in a mild upset, the Giants over Chicago and the Rams over Miami. New England whips San Francisco, Philadelphia loses to Seattle and on Sunday night Green Bay is a toss. They could beat Washington or lose to them. Too close to call.
On Monday night football it is Oakland over Houston.
That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
