We've Got The County Covered

What 'Cher Point?

There was a time long ago when the Dallas Cowboys were my team. I sort of started watching football with them and since I had a good friend who was always for San Francisco it made for sort of a wild and wooly rivalry to say the least.

That was the age of Troy Aikman and the boys vs. any and all from San Francisco. It was the pre Joe Montana era at San Fran but they had some very good players including Steve Young, maybe their second or third best quarterback ever. Young is a part of the ESPN commentating crew these days.

Well, Dallas coach Jimmy Johnson quit and frankly the owner, Jerry Jones was such a bossy and controlling freak, that I decided this was not my team anymore. So, I threw all my Dallas sweatshirts in the garbage and finally caught up with the Patriots in the era of Drew Bledsoe who had ties to Kalispell and then the Sea Hawks who seemed such an not plausable bunch of players that they could never win anything. They became my teams and I have stuck to them every since through thick and thin!

I bring this up because it looks to me like the Cowboys led by quarterback Dex Bryant are on the move. After last week Bryant and his team were 9 and 1 and that is a clear path to the playoffs and beyond.

On their side of the ledger all they have to do is control Seattle, Atlanta and Minnesota and that looks like a piece of cake to me unless Dallas gets hurt.

So, who will they be up against on the other side? The Patriots of course and maybe Oakland of all things! Looks like a very interesting wind down to the NFL season.

I did watch the Cats/Grizzly game last Saturday which has been billed the Brawl of the Wild of late. Poor name for that very important Montana game but be that as it may, the only way the Griz lost that game to the Bobcats is because they and their coach came on the field poorly prepared to win anything.

They must have thought this one was a freebee. Well, it wasn’t and the Griz paid the price by not getting to the playoffs.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the coach in Grizzly land but in Bobcat land, that performance would be fireable!

Boy we are really winding down on 2016 in the NFL. We are already up to week thirteen.

Here are some predictions.

On Thursday it is Dallas all over Minnesota. However, look for this one to be an upset too!

On Sunday it is Atlanta over Kansas City, Baltimore over Miami and San Fran over Chicago.

It is Philadelphia over Cincinnati, Houston over Green Bay and Denver over Jacksonville.

Look for the Patriots to barely escape the Rams, Detroit to beat New Orleans and Buffalo to lose to Oakland.

It is Washington over Arizona, the Giants losing to Pittsburgh and San Diego over Tampa Bay.

The late game on Sunday will be Seattle over Carolina. On Monday night it will be Indianapolis over the Jets.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. Go Thunderbirds!
