Harlem's Annual Country Christmas, December 14th Plenty of fun activities planned, bring your family

The Harlem Country Christmas is just around the corner! It will take place on Wednesday December 14. There will be many activities encompassed in this event, including a kid's and adult's coloring contest, a wreath decorating contest, and business open houses. Festivities will commence at 4:00 pm and last until 7:00 pm, with a "Homemade Stew" supper at the Senior Center from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Thanks to donations from members of the community, there will also be many delicious desserts to enjoy. Food Bank donations will also be accepted at the Senior Center during this time.

Many of the Harlem businesses will be hosting open houses (watch for the specific times) to stroll in an out of and enjoy various activities they have. There will be many chances to register for various drawings and be sure to cast your vote on Facebook for your favorite Christmas tree display at the open houses! Santa Clause will also be making an appearance this Country Christmas, and will be available for pictures from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sue's Deli.

For those more competitive attendees, there will be a number of contests taking place for all ages. Coloring contest entries for both the children and adult divisions can be viewed at the Senior Center. There will also be a wreath decorating contest, with entries due by December 9 to the Harlem Public Library.

Also taking place at the library is the Used Book Sale. This will begin on the day of the Country Christmas, December 14, at 12:30 pm and will be open until 7:00 pm. The sale will then continue throughout the month of December during regular business hours. There will be several hundred books and DVDs that have been "weeded out" of the library's collection as well as many that were donated. Prices of the books and DVDs range from 10 cents to 1 cent. The sale primarily benefits the library's Summer Reading Program, a healthy and fun activity for community youth to participate in during the summer. Last year the sale raised over $250 for the summer readers!
