The Thunderbirds bounced back from the opener on Friday, picking up their first win of the season a 60-48 decision over the Heart Butte Warriors.

There were several standout performances over the weekend most notably the play of Harlem freshman L'Tia Lawrence for the Harlem Lady Cats.

In the win over the Thunderbirds Lawrence scored a game-high 28 points and helped the team run a highly effective offense and a pressure defense that kept momentum fully on Harlem's side.

Harlem opened up at 28-13 advantage after eight minutes of action and extended the lead to 39-19 before securing the 25-point win.

Sophomore Skylee Dirden added seven markers for Harlem while senior Kiarra Shambo's 10 points led the Thunderbirds.

The 2-0 start is the first in sometime for the Harlem girls who are a very young team with three freshman and two sophomores playing heavy minutes.

Saturday the girls were back in Chester with a contest against the Power Pirates. Chinook wasted little time in establishing their dominance as they scored often and early taking a 27-14 halftime lead before pushing the advantage to more than 20 points and securing a 54-26 win for a 2-0 start to the season.

Neibauer again paced the 'Beeters in scoring with 15 points, included four bombs from three-point land. Swank added 13 markers in the win and Hofer contributed seven. Sophomore Kourtney Hanson added six for the sugarbeeters.
