Through the "Bulls for Blue" program a portion of the proceeds from the sale of one bull go to help aspiring beef producers. The donated funds came from a bull owned by Austin Swanson, a Chinook FFA member and son of the owners of the cattle company.
Shipwheel Cattle Company, located on Clear Creek Road south of Chinook, held its eighth annual bull sale in mid-December. Three members of Chinook High's Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter were at the sale barn, decked out in their blue jackets and helping serve lunch prior to the start of the bull sale.
Asked if a larger number of FFA members would be coming to the sale after lunch, Wade Schneider, the president of the CHS chapter, said, "No, the three of us are here as part of the Bulls for Blue program." He went on to explain, "Montana Angus breeders can donate a portion of their sale...
