Clarence H. Olson

HARLEM , MT

Clarence H. Olson was born to Olaf & Hilja Olson on June l3, l928 in Harlem. He graduated from Harlem High School and then entered the US Navy. Upon discharge, he attended Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA and then married the love of his life, Lillian Kuntz, on July 22, 1950. He was a Ford-Mercury dealer for 43 years and people could see how much he enjoyed his career. His workers, friends and customers brought him some of the greatest joy for many years. Clarence loved people and also treasured his family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Clarence was active in many organizations and volunteered countless hours. He was on the Ford Dealers advertising board for 4 years. He served on the Montana Auto Dealers board for 9 years & held the position of President. He was active in the startup of the Harlem Business Club, Harlem Television and Harlem race track & even drove his own race car. Clarence was instrumental in facilitating paving streets in Harlem, maintaining an active airport, along with supporting the local golf club. A lifetime member of the Harlem Golf Course, Clarence and Lil enjoyed many hours on golf courses all over Montana and Arizona. Clarence had to admit, Lil could beat him from time to time. He was a born golfer and loved it very much, but could never retire on his winnings. Clarence was an active member of the American Lutheran Church and instilled faith values in his family.

Clarence flew his own airplane and was on the Blaine County Airport Commission and as the manager for many years. As a lifetime member of the Harlem VFW Post he served on the honor guard. He was also a member of the Turner American Legion post and the Chinook AF/AM Masonic lodge. As an active Shriner, he felt his most important role was to get children medical care at the Shrine Hospital in Spokane Washington. Helping people was a life passion. Clarence received awards and recognition for his achievements through the years including the honored World War II victory medal.

Clarence looked forward to going to Whitefish where they had a summer home for all the family to gather. Clarence and Lil also went to Yuma, AZ in the winter months, where they developed many friendships. Everywhere Clarence traveled people liked him.

Clarence's beloved wife, Lil, of 62 years preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two children, Dr. Jerry Olson (Leanna) of Havre & Vicki Olson Johnson (Scott) of Billings, MT along with eight grandchildren, Clay (Tonya), Dustin, McKay (Temina), Delani Brown (Christian), Evan (Hannah), Rylea Bleak (Cory), Ali Johnson Lewandowski (Ryan) and Abbey Johnson, as well 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Daddy (Grandpa) was the best and we all felt so blessed with the life he provided us including his unconditional, generous love. He was beloved by many and was an inspiration to all of us.

Clarence passed away on December 13, 2015 at the Northern Montana Care Center due to natural causes.Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church of Harlem, Shriner's Children's Hospitals, or the charity of the donor's choice.
