Fannie Elizabeth (Deming) McKay died at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre on January 10th at the age of 100. Fannie was born to Raymond and Ada Deming on October 5, 1916 in Harlem, Mt. She attended school in Harlem and Turner.
After graduating from Turner she went to college in Havre at Northern. Fannie then began her teaching career of 38 years. Fannie was married to Fred Calvert for 2 years, when he passed away from cancer. She married a second time to Bud McKay.
They were married for 25 years before divorcing. She never had children of her own, but she treasured her students. After retiring, Fannie did a lot of traveling before she moved to the care center. Fannie is survived by her sister Vivienne Brainard, who resides at the Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook, sister-in-law Lorraine Deming of Great Falls and Lola Deming of Sheridan, Wyoming.
Many nieces and nephews who loved her very much also survive her. She was preceded in death by her first husband Fred, and her three brothers: Henry, Curtis and Robert Deming and her sister Billie Lou Smith.
There will be no service as her 100th Birthday party was a celebration of her life. Fannie will be buried in Harlem next to her parents.
