Chinook FFA keeping busy, competing till spring

FFA has been one busy club this month, and will continue to be busy up until Spring. Results from Lewistown Mechanics, held on January 28th, included Austin Swanson receiving 18th place, and Patrick McMaster receiving 20th place overall individually for the Junior Mechanics.

The junior mechanics team, Patrick McMaster, Austin Swanson, and Jackson Schmele (first timer), went home with an 8th place finish. Tye Mitchell and Brad Pelesky also competed as our Senior Mechanics Team.

As for KMON, the contests held in Great Falls. MT was Sales and Service and Livestock Evaluation. Sales being on January 20th, and Livestock being held on the 21st. Michael Warburton and Cristen Friede combined with Ruby Valley to make a Senior Sales Team. Their mission this year was to sell balers. Michael Warburton received 5th place individually.

For Livestock Evaluation, Jade Cecrle, Anna Mitchell, Anna Getten, and Larissa Getten competed as our Junior Livestock Team as new evaluators.

We also had members competing in Melstone for Mechanics and Livestock Monday the 6th of February. The chapter members traveled to Roundup and had a Super Bowl party in the hotel.

During the contest the next day Michael placed 17th in Mechanics, and the team had to complete a team problem building a compost box. They were recognized for constructing the best box.

Two days later, Wednesday the 8th, was a district contest in Grass Range for Agronomy, Farm Business Management, and Mechanics. At this contest our Senior Mechanics team, Wade Schneider, Michael Warburton, Cord Schneider, Ryle Elliot, Tye Mitchell, Brad Pelesky, placed 1st. Wade Schneider and Ryle Elliot tied for 4th individually.

Wade Schneider also placed 1st in Agronomy. February 20th-24th, the Chinook FFA members will be hosting FFA week, where the school will participate in a week full of fun festivities that are Ag related.

March 4th there will be a competition held in Conrad for Crops and Mechanics, and on March 22-25th FFA members will compete at the State Convention in Great Falls, MT.
