Don’t miss the Mardi Gras Fun Night Feb. 28, 6:00-7:30 P.M. We will wind up “Love Your Library” month with an evening filled with fun, food, games and more! Wear green, purple, or gold and bring your family and friends. This event is for the young and the young at heart! “Let the Good Times Roll at Your Library!”

Thanks to everyone who stopped by last week to see the new children’s books acquired through The Pilcrow Foundation grant with help from the Friends of the Library and the generosity of Mr. Hal Berenson and Mrs. Laura Ackerman. Thanks to those who provided the delicious refreshments, too.

Parents and caregivers are reminded of the children’s programs available at the library. Books and Babies meets on Tuesday at 10 A.M. for infants and toddlers with their parents. Story Hour for children age three through grade five is held on Fridays at 10 A.M. Lego Club for all ages meets Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 P.M. We have a wonderful play space also for you to enjoy.

Stop by the library this week and see what’s new. “The Fisher King” is a Jack McBride mystery by Melissa Lenhardt. Jack McBride’s life as chief of police is not going well. The people of Stillwater blame him for the increase in crime and are gunning to fire him. His brother rode into town with a pocket full of cocaine, his estranged wife wants him back after a year apart, and Ellie Martin has ended their brief affair. Can he rise above the chaos and save himself?

Brad Taylor’s latest Pike Logan thriller is “Ring of Fire.” Can Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill stop the imminent threat of a terrorist attack on the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11? The Ring of Fire will cause destruction, chaos, and terror that will distract the Taskforce from a truth no one sees.

“History of Wolves” is by Emily Fridlund. Teenager Linda live in the north woods of Minnesota in a nearly abandoned commune. Linda, an outsider at school, is drawn to her new history teacher and is deeply troubled by his arrest on child pornography charges. A young family moves in and hires her as a babysitter for their young son. But soon she must contend with expectations and secrets she doesn’t understand.

Will Schwalbe, author of “The End of Your Life Book Club” has written “Books for Living.” Schwalbe “invites us along on his quest for books that speak to the specific challenges of living in our modern world, with all its noise and distractions.”

A new biography is “A Warrior of the People” by Joe Starita. This is the story of how Susan La Flesche overcame racial and gender inequality to become America’s first Indian doctor.

“The Nowhere Man” is the new Orphan X novel by Gregg Hurwitz. Evan Smoak was raised and trained from childhood to be an assassin. After breaking with the program he reinvented himself at the Nowhere Man, who will do anything to help the truly desperate. When he is taken captive and trapped in a virtual cage, his captors are unaware they have one of the deadliest and resourceful men on earth.

Keep up the 2017 Reading Challenge to read 52 books this year. If you complete your goal of reading four books this month contact the library so your name can be entered into the drawing to win a gift certificate from a local business.

The Book Club, a book discussion group for adults meets Mondays at 4 P.M. in the meeting room.
