Blackwolf to attend the American Bar Association Civics and Law Academy in Washington D.C.

Hays, MT, March 1, 2017–

Ms. Darrellyn Blackwolf, a junior at Hays Lodgepole High School and enrolled member of the Gros Ventre Nation of the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, was recently nominated and selected to participate in the American Bar Association Civics & Law Academy in Washington, D.C. scheduled from March 12-16, 2017.

Darrellyn was 1 of 20 high school students nationally, selected per year to travel from all over the country to learn about how the federal government works and visit with lawmakers to support their interest in careers in law.

Students visit the nation's capital to learn about and experience law, government, and the justice system in the United States. Each year organizations, law firms, bar associations and law schools sponsor students from their state or local community to attend the Academy.

Darrellyn is active in a plethora of extra-curricular and academic activities and feels this will only enhance her education. Along with her high school academics, Darrellyn is a dually enrolled student spending half her day attending Aaniiih Nakoda College twice a week.

On being selected to attended the academy, Darrellyn states, "It feels great. Out of all the students in the country, to be selected, it feels good to represent our community." She is looking forward to this opportunity, to build on to her educational experience.

Darrellyn's future goals are to attend Aaniiih Nakoda college and continue her education at a four-year institution. Darrellyn was nominated by National Native American Bar Association, who will also sponsor Ms. Blackwolf's travel to the academy.
