We've Got The County Covered
This June 23 Blaine and Hill County cancer support volunteers will collaborate to stage the first ever combined North Central Montana Relay. Co-chair Colleen Mulonet said the event, the major fundraiser that supports cancer research, will alternate between the two counties. The 2017 event will be held at Havre High School, next year's relay will be in Blaine County.
Mulonet said the next regular meeting for the upcoming June event will be Wednesday, April 12 at the Chinook Eagles. She said, "The first part of the gathering will give individuals and teams an opportunity to sign up for the Relay walk." The walk is the celebration part of the annual fundraiser. Teams raise money, through various activities, to support cancer research and to help cancer victims. At the June event, teams recognize cancer survivors, set up luminaries in memory and honor of cancer victims and walk to show support for efforts to fight cancer. The sign-up meeting begins at 6 pm and will be followed by an old-fashioned ice cream social. All teams and individuals are encouraged to attend.
Mulonet reminds cancer survivors are encouraged to attend the survivors' dinner that precedes the walk on June 23. For information about the survivors' dinner or purchasing luminaries in memory of or to honor a loved one, call 357-3837. The goal of this year's Relay for Life is to raise $14,000.
