The Tack and Field season is winding down but the competition is heating up as team get ready for the District Tournaments which begin next week.
The Jason Groseclose Memorial meet featuring teams from Hays/Lodge Pole, Chinook and Turner was Monday. Top 10, a gathering of the ten best qualifiers in each event in the Northern region gathered in Glasgow Tuesday and included athletes from Chinook, Turner and Harlem.
Results from these two meets will appear in next weeks edition.
This past weekend the Sugarbeeters were in Great Falls Saturday where the girls finished fourth in the 21 team field that include several of the Northern Divisions top athletes.
The Wildcats were in Lewistown where the boys finished second in the ten team meet.
Chinook sophomore Megan Molyneaux remained undefeated in the 100 Meter Dash winning the event with a split of :12.84.
Molyneaux was edged out in the 200 Meter dash where the finish was to close to call and after some discussion was decided that Molyneaux finished second by one/one hundredth of a second with a time of :27.13.
Sophomore Kourtney Hanson continued to make her mark in the middle distances finishing third in both the 800 Meter and 1600 Meter runs.
Hanson, Molyneaux, sophomore Lincy Johnson and junior Jaye Anderson completed four exchanges in both the 4x100 Meter and 4x400 Meter Relay races where the Sugarbeeters finished fifth.
Senior Brooke Elliot scored points in the field for Chinook finishing third in the Discus and sixth in the Shot Put.
Senior Kyler Johnson earned a fourth place finish in the 3200 Meter Run and a sixth in the 1600 Meter run while teammate, sophomore Trajan Hannum was fourth in the 800 Meter Run.
In Lewistown, Wildcat senior Damon Adams was dominate in the sprints winning the 100 Meter Dash in :11.77, the 200 Meter Dash in :23.68 and the 400 Meter Dash in :51.78.
Adams also teamed with senior Tyus Hammett, sophomore Damian Schuhmacher and freshman Taggert Devaney to win the 4x100 Meter Relay.
Hammett claimed the High Jump title after clearing 6'0". Devaney added a second place finish in the 400 Meter Dash and third place finish in the 800 Meter run to the Wildcat point total.
Sophomore Haylee Johnson finished fourth in the Shot Put and third in the 200 Meter Dash for the girls.
