The Chinook Sugarbeeters, Harlem Wildcats, Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds and the Turner Tornadoes will all be represented at their respective Class State Track and Field Meet this weekend.
The Class B state meet will take place in Butte this Friday and Saturday while the Class C will be in Laurel.
Chinook sophomore Megan Molyneaux and Harlem freshman L'Tia Lawrence were both double winners over the weekend, Harlem senior Reece Hutton and Turner junior Eddie Harmon also won individual championships.
Molyneaux has been at the top of the field all season in both the 100 and 200 Meter sprints and continued her dominance at the Northern C Divisional in Great Falls last Thursday.
Molyneaux first broke the tape in the 100 Meter dash in :12.97 to win the event. Later she added a first place finish in the 200 Meter dash with a time of :26.27.
Molyneaux had already qualified for the State C based on previous performances. Her time of :12.68 at the Havre Lions currently stands as the top mark in all of Class C as does her time in the 200 at the Northern C.
Lawrence has excelled in the distance races, beginning last fall while competing in Cross Country for the Wildcats. Saturday at the Northern B Lawrence won the 1,600 Meter race with a time of 5:36.43 and completed the 3,200 Meter Run in 12:15.84 to claim the top spot on the podium.
Lawrence is ranked in the Class B Top 10 in both events heading into the State B in Butte this weekend. Her effort of 12:14.88 at the North/East Top 10 is currently third in the state while her Northern B effort on the 1,600 comes in at fourth.
Harmon has been a force in the middle distance race for the Tornadoes the past three seasons representing Turner at the State Meet.
Thursday in Great Falls Harmon won the 400 Meter Dash with a fast lap of :52.92 and finished second in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:03.98.
Harmon will head to the State C with Top 10 rankings in both events. His time in the 400 Meters at the Northern C is the fourth fastest while his effort of 2:02.89 at the District 9C in the 800 Meter run stands as the second fastest in all of Class C.
Hutton is bound for the NAIA program in Dickinson, North Dakota to compete In Track and Field for the Bluehawks and is having a fine senior season for the Wildcats excelling in the field events.
Hutton won the Shot Put Saturday with a heave of 47'9.5" and finished second in the Discus with a flip of 150'4". His effort of 51'9" at the Glasgow Invitational earlier in the season stands as the top mark in Class B Shot Put heading into the State B this weekend. Hutton also has the fourth best Discus mark recording a 150'7" throw at the Cal Wearley to start the season.
Chinook sophomore Kourtney Hanson turned in solid effort in the 800 Meter run at the Northern C Divisional finishing second with a time of 2:30.22. She also qualified for State in the 1,600 with a fifth place finish.
Hanson will enter the State C with the fifth fastest 800 in Class C having recorded a 2:26.59 at the District 9C.
Chinook Senior Brooke Elliot will compete at the State C in all three throwing events having finished second in both the Javelin and the Discus at the Northern C, while also adding a fifth place finish in the Shot Put.
Elliot is also ranked in the Class C Top 10, entering the State C with the seventh best mark in the Shot Put a 35'7" heave recorded at the North/East Top 10.
Harlem freshman Taggert Devaney has excelled in the 800 Meter run his first year at the high school level finishing second in the event at the Northern B with a time of 2:03.88. That effort currently stands as the sixth best in all of Class B entering the weekend.
Chinook senior Wade Schneider has came on strong in the field for the Sugarbeeters down the stretch and will compete in all three events this weekend.
Schneider fished second in the Shot Put with a mark of 44'5.5" an effort that stands as the eighth best in Class C. He also finished third in the Javelin and fourth in the Discus.
Hays/Lodge Pole junior Isiah RunsAbove is one of the top distance runners in the state and his effort of 10:21.19 at the Northern C earned him a second place finish.
RunsAboves time of 10:18.70 at the District 9C is the third fastest in Class C.
Chinook senior Rochelle Chaffin will head to state in the 200 Meter Dash and 300 Meter Hurdles after finishing fifth and third in the events Thursday. Chaffin's time of :48.21 at the District 9C stands as the fourth fastest in the state.
Wildcat senior Tyus Hammett also holds a Top 10 spot entering the State B this weekend. Hammett finished third in the High Jump at the Northern B but his effort of 6'2" at the Cal Wearley stands as the sixth best in Class B.
The Chinook girls short relay of Chaffin, Hanson, Molyneaux and junior Jaye Anderson has the fourth fastest time while the 'Beeters long relay of Anderson, Hanson, Chaffin and sophomore Lincy Johnson hold the eighth best time.
Also performing very well at the Divisional meets and advancing to state this weekend were Chinook junior Jaye Anderson (5th - Long Jump); sophomore Rachel Gunderson (5th -Discus); Senior Kyler Johnson (4th - 1,600 Meter Run, 4th 3,200 Meter Run); Turner freshman Sarah Billmayer (5th - 300 Meter Hurdles); sophomore Cody Welsh (5th - High Jump); Harlem sophomore Hayley Johnson (4th - Shot Put); Harlem boys 4x100 Meter Relay (Schuhmacher, Hammett, Devaney, Adams - 5th); Harlem Boys 4x400 Meter Relay (Little Plume, Hammett, Devaney, Adams - 5th).
