We've Got The County Covered
On May 9, 2017, the parents, community, and the school board was treated to an unbelievable treat as the first Hays – Lodge Pole High School Band performed for the first time in eight years!
Starting band just this year on Jan. 15, 2017, the talented students accomplished with excellence a full thirty minute concert, in just seventeen weeks of preparation.
The success is due “ to intelligence, talent and a true love of music!” so says Band Director Steinhardt.
Taking the stage in their Sunday best, the band played everything from Classical to Jazz to Rock!
Highlights were Damien Bradley and Isaiah Runsabove on Electric Guitar solos; Isaiah Fox on Trumpet and Vocal solo; Spencer Grandchamp on Bass Guitar – Trinity Plain Feather on drum set just to mention a few!
`Maxine Plain Feather, senior, winner of the John Phillips Sousa Music Award, played a superb Snare Drum Solo!
Mr. John Steinhardt, who just started teaching at Hays in Jan. 2017 is an experienced professional musician, music educator and graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He is the singer songwriter SCHIZOID JOHNNY and is presently heard on 96 radio stations across the country.
“It wasn’t me…” says Steinhardt; “ THEY did it – I just lit the fire…”
