Voters headed to the polls on Thursday, May 25 to fill the congressional vacancy left by President Trumps appointment of former Congressmen Ryan Zinke as Secretary of the Interior.
The Special Election included three names on the ballot: Republican, Greg Gianforte, Democrat Rob Quist and Libertarian Mark Wicks.
Gianforte won the election with 50% of the vote (189,473), while Quist was second with 44% (166,483) and Wicks third with 6% (21,509).
In Blaine County Quist claimed victory receiving 928 votes or 49% to Gianfortes 43% (819) and Wicks 9% (163).
Blaine County voters cast their votes in precincts located in Turner, Fort Belknap, Harlem (9-32), Ft. Belknap, North Chinook, Harlem (8-32), Turner, Chinook and South Chinook.
Voter turnout statewide was 48.12% identical to Blaine County where a total of 1,912 ballots were cast out of 3,973 registered voters.
Quist easily won precincts in Ft. Belknap (197-20-8), Harlem (136-69-19) and Hays (227-14-4). Gianforte handi;y won precints in Turner (157-45-18), South Chinook (250-59-46) and North Chinook (61-17-10).
Voter turnout was the highest in the South Chinook precinct where 66% of registered voters filled out ballots. Turner was second with 63% voter turnout and Chinook, North Chinook were third with 59%.
The lowest voter turnout in Blaine County was in Harlem precinct 9-32 where 28% of eligible voters cast ballots. Hays precinct had a 31% voter turnout while Fort Belknap had a 36% voter turnout.
Wicks best showing was in South Chinook where the Libertarian finished just six votes back of Quist with 46.
