Veronica Jolene Sears, 79 of Fort Belknap passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 due to natural causes. A Wake was started on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Red Whip Center in Fort Belknap with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Veronica was born on December 3, 1938 to Leo Wing and Louise Gunn in Lodgepole. She was raised and attended school in Lodgepole, graduating from Flandreau High School in 1946. She then attended Haskell Indian Nations University, graduating with a degree in business. Soon after, she met Billy Joe Sears, the couple married and had six children; raising them in Los Angeles, CA. while in CA she worked as a Dental Assistant and did the office's insurance billing. She then went on to manage six different dental offices.

Veronica was a faithful bingo player and could be found at Northern Winz three times a week. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and word searches. She watched Judge Judy, Court TV, and true crime shows. The family also traveled around the country to attend several powwows. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her Mexican food.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe; son, Garrett; infant son, Clinton; parents, Leo and Louise; grandmother, Stella (Rattlesnake) Gunn; and grandchildren, Angela and Garrett.

She is survived by her partner of 37 years, Norbert Winans Sr .; children, Cheryl, Greg (Tammy), Lori (Delbert Jackson), all of Fort Belknap and Christopher(Lucinda) of Billings; grandchildren she raised, Crystal, David, Gabriel, Joseph, and Lydia; a great granddaughter she raised, Gracie; 15 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
