Chinook swimmers excel at Glasgow, Chester swim meets

The Chinook Lions swim team split their roster and sent some swimmers to Glasgow and some to Chester to compete this weekend.

Regardless of where they swam the Lion swimmers made their way to the finals.

The Lions had three swimmers earn High Point trophies. Kohen Sullivan and Hallie Neibauer took top honors in Chester while Benton Elliot won the award for the second week in a row in Glasgow.

It was Kohen's first High Point trophy and he sure earned it. He owned the Chester pool start to finish.

Sullivan swam the 100 Meter Freestyle in 1:31.89 to win the boys 9-10 event. He also won the 50 Meter race completing the two lengths of the pool in a fast time of :39.00.

Sullivan completed the trifecta with his win in the 50 Meter Backstroke, winning with a time of :49.84.

Hallie Neibauer also took home top honors in the girls 9-10 division.

Neibauer won the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of :42.71. She added a win in the grueling 100 Meter Individual Medley completing the four disciplines in 1:38.11.

Neibauer also swam the 50 Meter Freestyle an event she would win with a time of :35.97.

Elliot continued the momentum he gathered in Chinook the previous week and won all three events he swam in Glasgow.

Elliot's swims included wins in the Boys 13-14 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 28.88, the 50 Meter Butterfly (:35.67) and the 100 Meter Butterfly (1:26.95).

The Chinook Lions had many great individual efforts over the weekend including Evy Jendro in the girls 9-10 100 Meter Freestyle, which she won with a time of 1:28.32 taking more than eight seconds off her best time.

Nathaniel Plainfeather won the boys 9-10 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of :51.40 and Brockton Elliot won the boys 9-10 50 Meter Butterfly in :43.70. Liam Edwards was a champion in the boys 11-12 50 Meter Breaststroke with a time of :49.89.

Area swimmers will head to Malta this week to compete. The season has passed the halfway point and swimmers are looking to get in their required number of meets to qualify for the Divisional swim in Sidney and State in Lewistown the end of July and August.
